The Splatter

From "The Creation Series"

Today in my class I was demonstrating several representational rural scenes that featured the technique of splatter and I told them that I would post several pieces I finished a few years back in my “Creation Series.”  Here goes I hope you get what I was doing which was trying to express the explosions of energy in the early years of planet earth.

Waterfall: the passage of light 5 Versions

When starting a painting that is fairly abstract and you are trying to express a feeling, you must design the painting and design the white shape.  I do it by using a sketch book and 6B pencil taking care to really make the shape work and have movement before committing to the painting process.  It does let the you be freer and more expressive with your painting.

“Coastline”

Here is a recent Acrylic that follows in my series of paintings that are conceptually about looking down on the beautiful “American Landscape”.  Really it could be any landscape but I feel like this one is one of those Texas Gulf Coast shorelines.  The painting is on canvas and measures at 16 x 16
