Here is a new 30×36 acrylic on canvas that I finished for my show at Touchstone Gallery in July. I am trying to evoke the feeling of the big landscape and lots of light with minimalistic approach.
Today in my class I was demonstrating several representational rural scenes that featured the technique of splatter and I told them that I would post several pieces I finished a few years back in my “Creation Series.” Here goes I hope you get what I was doing which was trying to express the explosions of energy in the early years of planet earth.
When starting a painting that is fairly abstract and you are trying to express a feeling, you must design the painting and design the white shape. I do it by using a sketch book and 6B pencil taking care to really make the shape work and have movement before committing to the painting process. It does let the you be freer and more expressive with your painting.
