Painting Pemaquid Point

It is important when painting outdoors that you have a one phrase idea, mine was “morning light and color”, and then edit the subject to just be that phrase. Leave out, and embellish but try not to copy everything that you see. You are the director of this play so put the players where you want them on the stage.

In The Studio: Day 1 of Rockport, Maine Workshop Pemaquid

Today we started the workshop at Pemaquid Point and it was a fabulous day with light winds and cool temperature.  As one of my long time students said it was the best day ever at Pemaquid.  I definitely agreed. My lesson was to take the complicated and simplify everything down to 4 to 5 value

In The Studio: Cleaned up the studio now I am finishing paintings

One of my goals in cleaning up my studio was to be able for work in it again.  It had become a representation of the absolute clutter in my head, boxes of stuff everywhere, and stacks of papers, paintings and procrastinations.  I know that’s not a word but this is not a grammar lesson.  Anyway
