Today we were at Camden Harbor and it was supposed to be rainy but in fact it was just damp and very foggy but for my demonstrations I caught moments when the fog was lifting. I have found when it is damp struggling with wet paper is an issue so I don’t wet the paper very much. I only slightly wet the areas where the middle values will be placed and then I leave the whiter areas dry. I also bring less water to the paper when I am painting. I kept my colors cool and more neutral to give the impression of atmosphere. I also tried in one of the paintings a new 300 lb paper made by fluid and it is not my favorite it is hard and doesn’t lift well it’s kind of like Canson paper. Oh well I like the 16×20 size. Here are my paintings.watercolor 16×20 300 lb Fluid paper watercolor 300 lb Arches paper

When I grow up hope to paint like you! You are the best!
Thanks Martha it is always wonderful to hear from you. I hope you are doing well
In this particular subject, I prefer the watercolor you have painted on Arches paper. I find it is more atmospheric. The little figures you have added really tell a story. I love your work and your teachings. Thanks for sharing with this amateur Respectfully Mercedes
