“Last Light” Watercolor Demonstration

Painting & Poetry
Watercolors

This painting was my demonstration for my watercolor class.  I was attracted to the wonderful sky and the dark lacy pine tree against the the late evening sky.  I hope you like it, I found this painting to be a reflection of the need for a calm port in the storm.

“Last Light”

The fading warmth of the sun’s rays

Enveloped by cold gray layered clouds

Spotlights through the black-latticed pines

Reaching out to pull

Emerald greens out of the late winter grass

Elegant dancing trees their branches

Playing gestural mime games

Lyrical and wistful

Claiming the last of the evening’s mantle for their own

  1. Beautiful watercolor of which I am intensely attracted by the ray of sunlight that shines from the tan extension of the background to the green field of the foreground, marking a bright path of light that takes me to the reflection in the front of the dark green leaves of the trees . Steve thanks for showing it to us
