Today we spent the day at Pemaquid Point, one of the most beautiful spots on the Maine coast. The lesson for the day was to paint many paintings of the same subject matter, trying to capture the feeling of the light and forms. It was not important to create great paintings but rather to get the impression of the landscape. Since it was Pemaquid, a rocky Maine coastal setting, my demonstration was a series of quick expressive rock studies. Several worked several didn’t, such is life.

Seas violently pound
Over rocks thrust up by time
Soon pebbles remain
