I painted a painting during this photo and sold it right off the easel.
In this painting, I was really trying to capture the lovely light and color of this glorious morning at Pemaquid Point, Maine. I got rid of the foreground parking lot and made up this green gold foreground shape to act as an introduction to the scene. It is important when painting outdoors that you have a one phrase idea, mine was “morning light and color”, and then edit the subject to just be that phrase. Leave out, and embellish but try not to copy everything that you see. You are the director of this play so put the players where you want them on the stage.
What a wonderful watercolor!
