Here is another revisit of one of my paintings an oil painting of Botswana. I have written a poem about it that reflects my feeling of the change that happens when a weather front comes through. The painting is a very direct piece that I did in on short session, my goal to just capture the energy of the weather and the beautiful light.
Change of Season
The cold chill of autumn crashed into summer
Like a hammer slamming into an anvil
Dark roiling clouds driven by raw north winds
Pushed aside the warm golden days
Bending trees like blades of umber grass
Tearing dead foliage from branches
Filling the air with clouds of black leaves
Like a million crows deserting their roost.
Pulling up my collar I turned and walked
Facing yesterday’s sun
Hoping to find one more field of summer light.
Spectacular!!!!
