Again, here are the 3 paintings I demonstrated for my classes at the Art League this week, I’m not sure there is a common theme. In each one I was talking about quality of the light and making the composition work bases by starting with a key concept or center of interest. I made sure that the values of the colors supported the type of day or type of light. If it was low level as in the first image I darkened the palette and pushed the colors towards violet to get the late evening feeling. In this next painting I keep the values really light to support the sunny middle of the day feeling, I didn’t want to overdo the darks and have too much competition for the nice light values. This next painting I tucked the farms buildings into the trees and was more concerned with creating a sense of depth with overlapping shapes and aerial perspective. I think that part worked pretty well.

Your watercolors today are also very good and it is very well understood what you want to convey. Thank you.
