I painted this little 9×12 sketch with two goals first to make the sketch express a dark value composition, with a little piece of light, and secondly to express the center of interest with as little detail as possible letting the simple color contrast orange red/yellow green do the job. I stopped when I felt I had expressed the color concept. That was my big goal.

I see the complementary contrast. It seems that it delivers a good cold area of shade and a bright warm light area.
