Waterfall: the passage of light 5 Versions

When starting a painting that is fairly abstract and you are trying to express a feeling, you must design the painting and design the white shape.  I do it by using a sketch book and 6B pencil taking care to really make the shape work and have movement before committing to the painting process.  It does let the you be freer and more expressive with your painting.

This concept for this series of paintings is a passage of white and in each one I focus all of the energy and information along the edge of the white shapes.  It is important to remember the point and that is to make the viewer look where you want them to look and to entertain them in other areas.

  1. I am really shocked with your paintings. I’m trying to make your passage with white shapes in a painting of mine, but I don`t know how to convey the things that surround to the passage without being too obvious. Do you have a video on this subject? I’d like to see a demonstration of your painting this. Thank you for sharing. Respectfully Mercedes

  2. Any chance that you could do something like this as a demo in the Studio class?…or at least one of them?
