Today’s oil painting is an attempt to capture light dancing across water reflections. I used a really simple subject of a mass of trees along the side of a river bank. I put in a big piece of sky to evoke the feeling of a building storm coming up over the top of the trees. The brush and color work is pretty lively and I was pretty happy with the relationship of the landscape forms. The second painting is about the late afternoon light on the Maine coast.“Afternoon Showers” 11×17 oil on canvas panel
“Ocean Point” 11×17 oil on canvas
The first painting has such wonderful reflections of the trees, and in the second, even the rocks are glowing with the light!
