Today’s oil painting is an attempt to capture light dancing across water reflections. I used a really simple subject of a mass of trees along the side of a river bank. I put in a big piece of sky to evoke the feeling of a building storm coming up over the top of the trees. The brush and color work is pretty lively and I was pretty happy with the relationship of the landscape forms. The second painting is about the late afternoon light on the Maine coast.

The first painting has such wonderful reflections of the trees, and in the second, even the rocks are glowing with the light!
