As my ongoing journey to learn to paint oils continues with a weekend of plein air painting in the crisp late autumn air on Mount Weather, I was encouraged by some of the results. I am still struggling with the finish of the pieces but the color is better and I think I am handling the start of the process better. I am doing what Carlson says I am just trying to work tone to tone. Well here they are. All are on linen archival canvas panels.

Steve, these are wonderful, especially the 4th one with such beautiful trees in the foreground and the blue mountain in the background! Thanks so much for sharing your impressive progress in oils 🙂
I find your oil works be great. I like them very much. Thank Steeve for sharing them with me. Best regards. Mercedes
I need to bring oils to my palette. Probably soon!
I have used acrylics on panels/canvas, but dry too fast to allow “oops” coverage. Like very much what you are developing.
