These two oils are quick studies of the same scene, a pond wetland in Rockport, Maine, which has a beautiful view but also a herd of wonderful Belted Galway cows. They make a very interesting piece of subject matter that can be thrown it to the painting to just give it a little bit of life and color.Study of Belted Galways, oil on panel 12 x 16Study 2 “Belted Galways” oil on panel 12 x 16
Keep painting and soon a new medium will seem like an old friend, I know I have been putting up very few watercolors and for that I apologize but I am really trying to get the hang of oils and let you participate in my learning adventure. I put up with a lot of self doubt when I put these paintings up since they are so new and primative but hey I learning. My goal is to teach painting workshops that have no special bias towards a specific medium just a dedication to the art of painting and that will be worth the effort. Coming soon my Rockport Maine Blog, a daily adventure in the sights and scenes of Maine, keep checking in I will start this Monday. Steve
Love “Oreo cookie cows”! Nice sketches……I think a workshop where all media were welcome concentrating on good painting would be great. It is too easy to get caught up in the latest technique and forget about good design
I agree completely, techniques is just a part of painting not the end result. I hope I can pull off the new workshop design. I will keep everyone posted.
