Draw the cows in relationship to each other so they overlap and create an interesting shape. Paint them using a dark mixture or ultramarine blue, alizirin crimson and burnt sienna. Paint the background with cool greys for the sky and snow, ultramarine blue and burnt sienna, and add a little olive green to the mix for the trees.Pull the cool greys into the foreground and splatter some warm tones around for texture, but this is a cool temperature painting so keep the warms as a contrast not a color changer.Paint the building again using a cool greys and drop in a few cow dots, thank you Hope, into the field in the background field.Put in dark accents on building and the main cows. This finishes the painting and as you can see it is a pretty easy process but the cows have to look like the real thing or it will not be successful. I am not sold on the main cow in the front but at least it doesn’t look like an anteater.

I love this painting. The cows are so loose and perfect! I thought you said you couldn’t (or wouldn’t!) paint cows?Q!
Beautiful! Anteater–the single cow to the right of the main cow?
