18 x 24 Watercolor Arches Rough
In this jump-start I want you to really get the expressive line going, creating a great feeling of movement and emphasizing the character of the main shapes in the painting. I have chosen a very simple subject matter of slight hill with trees on top of the ridge with interesting random pieces of white paper though out the painting. I am using very lively colors that are applied in an expressive and entertaining fashion. I am not trying to paint any hill I have ever seen but rather I am trying to get you to move along the shape using white paper and expressive line. The colors support the feeling of the light and bright day.
I am using a scripts liner brush from Black Velvet Brush Company and have loaded with lots of pure pigment. This creates a good amount of drag and texture along the paper when I pull the brush. The colors I am using are New Gamboge, Hansa Yellow, Cerulean Blue, Cobalt Violet, Burnt Sienna and Alizarin Crimson, and these colors are allowed to merge on the paper, I have applied the paint with the side not point of a number 16 round brush.

Keep this loose and lively and choose a subject that will allow you to use expressive and free brushwork. Try really hard to not get hung up in the details. 18 x 24 Watercolor Arches Cold Pressed
Love the final painting but not sure how to get there!
