I have finished the first of four paintings on the view looking down on the desert floor. I think that as a group they hold up pretty well. I wanted the contours of the ground and the evidence of ages of travel paths to show as sublimely as they do from the small airplanes one flies in when traveling in Africa. I like feeling of these paintings and will keep pushing this approach to a more dry textural feeling in some of my future paintings in the series.
